“Dancing with sand” – Bernd Caspar DIETRICH

from March 30 to April 11, 2026
Opening Tuesday, March 31 from 6:30 PM

Active on the international art scene for over forty years, Dietrich is recognized as one of the most original figures in contemporary German art. His works, held in private collections across Europe and North America, stand out for their innovative use of materials such as sand, marble dust, cement, and clay.

His artistic practice lies at the intersection of painting and sculpture: layered surfaces, traversed by light and reflections, give rise to works that appear more modeled than painted. Elements such as pigments, phosphorus, gold, and glass particles contribute to creating a material poetics of strong visual intensity.

With “Dancing with Sand”, Dietrich offers a reflection on the complexity of contemporary human experience, balancing urban tensions, the search for identity, and the relationship with resources. The exhibition title suggests, with apparent lightness, a dialogue between aesthetics and responsibility.

The selection includes works from key series in his production, including Urbanisten, BetonGold, and Metamorphosen, highlighting the central themes of his research: transformation, materiality, and social dynamics.

Born in 1957 in Eilenburg (Germany), Bernd Caspar Dietrich lives and works at artpark Hoher Berg, near Düsseldorf. His works have been exhibited and sold internationally, including at auctions at Christie’s, consolidating his presence in the global art market.

Alongside his pictorial production, the artist develops installations and interdisciplinary projects related to light, sustainability, and perception. He is also the founder of artpark Hoher Berg, a cultural space dedicated to artistic experimentation and education, internationally recognized.
