YONOSUKE KANEKO personal exhibition

Urban visions

From Japan to Italy, through suspended worlds between reality and dream: Japanese artist Yonosuke Kaneko presents Tuesday 09 September his new solo exhibition at iKonica Art Gallery, a pictorial journey through imaginary architecture, memory stations, and intimate urban landscapes.
The works, painted in oil with a rich and layered technique, evoke glimpses of fantastical cities that feel both familiar and surreal. These are built from memories, impressions, and a deep affection for Italy — a country Kaneko has visited 37 times.
Facades melt into vivid colors, architectural forms take on human features, and train stations become symbols of fleeting time, while traces of the past emerge in fragments and details.

Kaneko, born in 1966 in Niigata, Japan, graduated from Tokyo Musashino Art University and has exhibited both in Japan and Italy — including recent solo shows at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and at the ArtArt Gallery in Florence. His work has received several accolades, including the Niki Exhibition Award in Tokyo and the Premio Firenze – Fiore d’oro in Florence.
